Cured on-site with our very own blend of spices, it’s impossible to not see just how our Home Cured Salt Silverside of Beef has become an Owton’s customer favourite. Its flavours are unrivalled and almost all of our beef products come from our very own farm; that’s what makes our beef so special. Our meat is perfect when slow-cooked and served with mash and steamed vegetables when hot. When cold, however, we recommend slicing your beef or shredding it, before serving it in sandwiches.

Our beef joint weighs anywhere between 1.4kg and 1.6kg, which means that it should be able to cater for up to 7 people. However, entirely dependent on how hungry you’re feeling, this number might vary a little! With this joint, you should also be able to make your very own corned beef, as well roasting and slow cooking.

About The Cut

Silverside of Beef

Silverside of beef, is a lean cut from the hindquarter of the cow, specifically from the outside of the leg. It is named for the silver-like membrane covering its surface – known for its firmness and relatively low fat content, silverside is best suited for slow cooking methods such as braising or roasting, which help break down its tough fibres and improve its flavour. This cut is often used for corned beef, pot roasts and traditional British roasts, offering a hearty taste!
